Star Soap is a brand that represents the best household, industrial and institutional cleansing product in Ethiopia.

The year 1994 marked the establishment of the giant soap plant in a 21ha land area located around Kality, south of Addis Ababa. The Company commissioned its plant with an initial capital of 80 million Ethiopian Birr (equivalent of 10 million US dollars at the rate of exchange at the time) having in place state of the art technologies and experts in the field. It has created employment opportunity to more than 180 workers.

In the past eight years of operation, SSADI has grown to be the leading soap manufacturing plant in Ethiopia both in terms of quality and market share. Our Company is renowned for the wide range of soap and detergent products it supplies in response to the pervasive demand of its esteemed customers.

The plant was designed for annual production of 5184 tons of laundry soap and 578 tons of toilet soap on a single shift operation. It is estimated that SSaDI satisfies more than one – third of the country’s demand for soap and detergent products. Our soap and detergent products are in high demand both for household and non-household consumption particularly hotels, restaurants and businesses.

As in all MIDROC Ethiopia group manufacturing plants, SSADI relies on the latest technology in the field. The highly automated computer-assisted manufacturing we adopted ensures the quality standard the company has envisaged and the environmentally friendliness of the products. The ‘art of the state’ technology we have in place for processing of our soap and detergent products and the packaging of the same is the secret for availing the products at a price affordable to anyone.
